There is a lot of controversy about the use of AI, so I thought I’d just lay my use of AI on the line for you……..
Yes, I Use AI. And Here’s What That Actually Means.
The bookkeeping knowledge, opinions, examples, stories, questionable sense of humor, and occasional profanity published here are mine.
They come from more than 30 years of bookkeeping experience, running small businesses, creating products, helping business owners, and watching handmade sellers receive some truly terrible financial advice.
I use AI as a collaborative tool. It helps me research questions, organize my thoughts, clean up my wording, and turn a rambling Nancy-brain download into an article that does not require you-the readers to pack snacks and leave a trail of breadcrumbs.
I also use AI to create custom, on-brand images for my posts. Because I would rather spend my time teaching handmade business owners about their money than doom-scrolling through Canva for three hours, searching for a photo that is vaguely related to bookkeeping and doesn’t feature a calculator from 1987.
AI does not provide my experience, expertise, opinions, or judgment. It does not decide what gets published. I review, rewrite, fact-check, fuss with, and approve every piece of content before you see it.
So yes, AI sometimes helps me make the work. But there is still a real human (me) —with decades of experience and very strong opinions about cost of goods sold—behind every damn bit of it.

I use AI to create blog post images, because it produces better maker specific images than I can find after spending hours searching through Canva and other places.
I write ALL of my own blog posts (sales pages, etc.), but I do run the draft through AI to make sure it's clear (and so I don't get too wordy or go off on a tangent!).
